Owners Wive's Bake Sale

Wives of the Mariners Owners are conducting a bake sale to help with stadium cost overruns - details here.

Iz Moose und Squirrel?

No, iz Moose and Slade. But the man who brought you the stadium financing package evidently couldn't swing a ticket for opening day - that or he wants to distance himself from ownership's money grab.

Rain Drops Keep Fallin....

One half of one billion dollars ( where's Carl Sagan when you need him) and the sucker LEAKS! Yup. First reports are that both fans and players felt the drops during Friday night's game. Do ya feel another overrun coming on?
OPENING NIGHT PROTEST

Congratulations to Common Sense Northwest, CLEAN, We The Fans, and Myohmy ( that'd be us ) for showing up and standing up on Opening Day. Though marginalized by the media the protest was real and thousands of fans and citizens streaming into the stadium were put on notice that somebody is concerned with their welfare - and that somebody is not the owners!
Media reports set the number of protesters at twenty or so though we saw more than that. See for yourself here.
More actions are in the offing. We will continue to post information here.

My, Oh My, What Happened to John Ellis?

Rumour has is that shortly after John Ellis announced that the Mariners were reneging on their numerous pledges to cover Safeco Field cost overruns, some of those present noticed a dramatic change in his appearance. Ellis left before |
| the change could be photo-documented but we have provided an artist's conception based on reports from the scene.
In an apparently unrelated development, a stadium carpenter identified only as "Geppetto" was removed from the Mariner offices and taken to Harborview for observation after he was found wondering the hallways and calling out for his "long lost son".
The Media: The Times Comes Out Swinging

Sometimes even the Seattle Times will meet a fat-cat giveaway it doesn't like. The latest extortion attempt from the Mariners is so unpopular that Fairview Fanny - usually the PR auxiliary of the Downtown Merchants and other money interests - has broken ranks with the well-to-do and joined the to-do surrounding the stadium swindle. Despite a Wednesday morning (June 22nd) visit from John Ellis and Howard Lincoln of the Mariners - and subsequent editorial silence that evening - the Times Editorial page came out swinging the big wood on Thursday. Their condemnation, while not as thorough as this reporter could have wished, was clear. Did the Times take a day to see which way the wind was blowing? Did they finally listen to Ron Judd, outdoor columnist and outspoken critic of the stadium deal? Will they keep up the good work and pressure the Mariners to back off? Or are the business boosters on the board just waiting for the storm to spend itself before the pr wheels start grinding again? Only time will tell - and we'll tell you here. |
